When should I place my order?
The sooner the better. Your order is placed on the calendar schedule as soon as you sign a contract and pay the deposit. As the schedule books rather far in advance, I recommend at least a 4 week notice for small orders (under 100 servings) and at least a 6 month notice for large orders (over 100 servings).
How many servings should I order?
One slice of cake or one cupcake per guest is sufficient. The number of required sugar cookies depends on the size of the cookie.
Is there a minimum order amount?
For custom cakes there is a minimum order amount of $100. For cupcakes and sugar cookies a minimum order of 1 dozen is required.
I am thinking of having a small wedding / party cake and kitchen cakes to supplement servings, will you provide both cakes?
Absolutely. Kitchen cakes can be added at the price of $3 per serving. Kitchen cakes are less expensive per serving because there are no decorations on the cake.
Can I taste the cakes?
For any order over 100 servings a complementary design consultation and tasting may be scheduled. Orders under 100 servings are handled through emails and phone calls.
What can I expect at the design consultation and tasting?
The design consultation and tasting will allow us to discuss all the possibilities open to you, plus give you the opportunity to sample a variety of cakes and fillings. As total of 1.5 hours is scheduled for each consultation, please do not be late. I recommend bringing with you pictures of cakes you like, color samples and any design elements included throughout the wedding.
The consultation area can accommodate a total of 3 guests. When scheduling a consultation confirm the total number guests coming to ensure there is enough cake for everyone. If you have to cancel or reschedule your consultation please give as much notice as possible as all samples are made fresh. If you are a no show, the consultation will not be rescheduled.
Can I pick the cake flavors and fillings sampled at the consultation?
Typically I choose the cake flavors and fillings that will be sampled. Since every order is made to order the samples available at the tasting is based on what is on hand that week. If you have a request I will try to include it. If you or anyone coming to the consultation has a food allergy be sure to inform Cakes by Christina when scheduling the consultation.
I am not ready to make any design decisions, but I want to reserve my date to ensure availability. Is that possible?
Yes. You may reserve your date with a $100 deposit. Final arrangements need to be made at least 30 days prior to your event. Be sure you are absolutely certain you want to work with Cakes by Christina as all deposits are date specific and non refundable.
How much of a deposit is required?
At the time of ordering a 30% or $100, whichever is greater, non refundable deposit is required to secure your date.
When is final payment due?
Thirty days before the event final payment is due. If your order is placed less than 30 days before the event full payment is required to hold your date.
What methods of payments do you except?
At this time cash, personal checks and cashiers checks are accepted forms of payment.
Can I make changes to my order?
Changes to your order can be made up until final payment is due, 30 days before the event. Once final payment has been made there can be no changes to your order. Each change could result in a new order total.
When is the cake / cupcakes delivered?
I will coordinate with your venue to arrange a convenient delivery time.
What if I have to cancel my order?
All orders cancelled more than 30 days before your event will be refunded all monies paid excluding the non refundable deposit. Any order cancelled 30 or less days before the even will forfeit all monies paid.
What is the difference between fondant and buttercream?
Buttercream is a spreadable icing that has a smooth finish. Fondant is a sugar dough that is molded over the cake creating a clean porcelain look.
Does your fondant taste good?
The fondant Cakes by Christina uses tastes wonderful. The standard fondant used is either vanilla flavored or chocolate flavored.
